I’m taking my mom and her two sisters (all in their 70’s and 80’s) on a bit of a genealogy tour. We’re traveling to France to visit the grave of their great-aunt who traveled from the farms of North Dakota to France to become a nun just after World War I, then on to Ireland to see County Cork and County Kilkenny where my Mom’s side of the family hails from. Next stop Boston, then Paris! #travel #France #Ireland
Now we’re on a train headed to Madrid. We should arrive around Noon local time, which will give us the afternoon and evening to explore the city a bit before we fly home tomorrow. #travel #Spain
In the afternoon we visited the Alcazar, a palace built by (Christian) King Pedro in the Moorish style, which has been used by Spanish royalty ever since. In fact, the Alcazar is still used as a residence by the current King and Queen of Spain when they are in Sevilla. #travel #Spain #Sevilla
Incidentally, if you ever find yourself in Sevilla and looking for a good meal, I highly recommend the Sevilla Tapas website. After an arduous morning touring the cathedral, Heather and I stopped at nearby a nearby restaurant for a lunch of paella and the local cocktail called a “Tinto Verano”. Nearest I can figure, the Tinto Verano is a mix of fruity red wine, lemonade, and club soda, all poured over ice and an orange slice.
