PSA: Brute force attacks on WordPress were regularly spinning up enough instances of PHP-FPM to bring my server to its knees. Protecting wp-login.php, wp-admin and xmlrpc.php (via .htaccess) has virtually eliminated this problem. It’s now part of my process for all new WP sites.
Looking at yesterday’s iPhone 12 announcement, I would have been more excited about the return of TouchID than I am about them adding 5G radios. The iPhone 12 mini looks nice, though.
To their credit, the support people were very easy to work with. I explained the situation and they removed the listing immediately with no hassle whatsoever.
Since Afternic is the source for “premium” domains on GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc., basically anyone could have bought my domain, I guess. I mean an extra $25k in my pocket would be nice, but that wouldn’t even begin to compensate me for all the changes that would be required.
