Release Notes 2023 (Portugal)
Joe Cieplinski and I co-organized Release Notes 2023 held April 14-16, 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal. This was the first event we organized since the onset of the global Covid pandemic. After the conference finished, Heather and I traveled to Lagos, Portugal and explored the Algarve for several days.
After a tough (tough!) day of sightseeing around Lagos, we took a nap, and now we’re relaxing at the hotel’s rooftop pool. (São João, Faro, Portugal)

We stopped at a cute little restaurant in Lagos for lunch and I ordered Bacalhau, thinking I would get a few fish croquettes like we had on the food tour in Lisbon. Instead, I was presented with a huge platter of braised cod with chips. Way too big for lunch, but delicious! #food

Spent this morning and afternoon exploring Lagos, Portugal. We had drinks by the sea, walked on the beach, and found an impossibly narrow residential building.

We had dinner tonight at a total tourist trap. It catered to English tourists, and featured menu items like “Pie & Pud night”, fish and chips, mushy peas, and sticky toffee pudding. But we were tired, hungry, and it had a view, so it was good enough. Food was ok, but just ok.
