What helped me get over my uneasiness with self-promotion was becoming confident that my product is good and solves a real need. When I talk about my product to someone in my target market, I’m actually *helping* them. Not talking about it would be doing them a disservice. 2/2
I’ve noticed (again) recently a lot of indies/bootstrappers saying that they feel “dirty” or “slimy” when promoting their products. I get it. I used to feel that way too. 1/2
I might have finally tracked down the cause of some periodic web server outages. They seem connected to my nightly backup jobs. I added a few ‘nice’ commands to the backup scripts so they give up CPU cycles to Apache. More testing is needed, but I think I’m on the right track.
With Black Friday sales already starting, I wonder how much money is being lost in e-commerce sales during every minute of this AWS outage. I can’t even imagine. ???
“Updating your system’s firmware. Do not power down your system.” This is one of the scariest screens I ever encounter. The only thing between me and bricking some hardware is my ability to not trip over a power cord. And I’m not exactly known for my catlike reflexes. ?
