To their credit, the support people were very easy to work with. I explained the situation and they removed the listing immediately with no hassle whatsoever.
Since Afternic is the source for “premium” domains on GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc., basically anyone could have bought my domain, I guess. I mean an extra $25k in my pocket would be nice, but that wouldn’t even begin to compensate me for all the changes that would be required.
So today I discovered my company’s domain was listed for sale on Afternic for $25,000. The thing is, I didn’t list it. I don’t *think* the domain would have been transferred if it were purchased, but it’s still sort of scary that apparently anyone can apparently list any domain.
I’m writing a requirements document for a contractor that includes flow charts and enough detail that at this point I feel like the feature could almost write itself.
TIL about `git merge -Xignore-all-space` and it saved me hours of time.
Also, there is a special circle of hell reserved for people who intermingle functional changes with cosmetic changes like, say, changing all tabs into spaces. ?
“I didn’t get into business…to be told what to do by another business.” —Jason Fried (via @manton)
A big part of why I do what I do is the freedom it gives me. If I wanted to be told what to do, I’d still be an employee.
Scene: It’s early morning. The Sun is just rising. Everyone in the house is sleeping as Charles sets a timer for his tea.
Me, whispering: “set a timer for three minutes.”
Siri: “YOUR TIMER IS SET FOR THREE MINUTES!” ?♂️
